Selecting a Promotional Cap

Because caps come in all shapes and sizes, it is not always easy to select one. below are some of the most important cap features to consider.

Panels

Most baseball style hats are 5 to 6 panels. The decision to choose one or the other rests on fit and decorating methods. The more panels a hat has, the better it will fit your head (assuming correct sizing). Although 5 panels should also fit nicely, just not as perfectly, they are best suited when silk screening or transfers are to be sued for decoration.

Size

Deciding on which size hat will be best should not be solely based on the persons age. For example, a 14 year old could have a bigger head than an 18 year old. With hats, you need to work with averages. Here is a helpful hat sizing chart and Head Circumference Chart to help you decide.

Decorating methods

Deciding which method to use for hat decorating depends upon your goals, budget, hat panel types and decorating location (some hats can be decorated in the back or on the side or inside. These are the most common:

Closure style

  • basic Velcro

  • Buckle

  • Plastic snaps

  • Hook & Velcro

  • Elastic

Style

  • Unstrustired - the unstructured hat will "flop" when held and is very loose. It can be of thick or thin material.

  • Structured - a structied hat will keep it's shape when of your head and tends to be stiffer
